Position description

Principal analyst provides analysis of all-source data in a multi-intelligence area to produce executive-level defense reports relevant on a national or global level.


  • Serve as subject matter expert in the intelligence analysis field supporting a DoD customer.

  • Responsible for final review of intelligence reports and prompt delivery to the customer at all levels.

  • Often leads in the research of all-source data and assists other intelligence analysts in the operation and use of intelligence tools.

  • Work as a member of a government and contractor team conducting signal, imagery, and multi-source intelligence analysis.

  • Generally, requires Army, Navy, Marine or Air Force Intelligence training and certification.

  • Experience requires expertise of fundamental imagery interpretation skills including basic plotting, map reading, image orientation for stereo viewing, identification of equipment and objects for defense analysis, and marine vessel identification.

  • Knowledge of multiple types of sensing systems, including radar and spectral imagery sources required.

  • Experience and training in one or more areas of; threat analysis, foreign intelligence, counterintelligence, risk and vulnerability assessments, military operations, investigations, technology protection, security, and antiterrorism/force protection are highly desirable.


  • Experience analyzing events of national intelligence interest

  • Experience manipulating various classified and open source databases

  • Knowledge of all-source intelligence, including SIGINT, and/or HUMINT collection reports

  • Ability to read and process all-source intelligence reports and implement directives, as presented daily

  • Previous experience writing Finished INTEL products with a focus on counterterrorism

  • Ability to research, analyze, and fuse complex data sets and generate leads to advance dynamic objectives collection and analysis

  • Experience manipulating data ( for example, performing Boolean logic searches) in order to pull out pertinent information for finished intelligence products

  • Experience developing quantitative metrics and analyzing trends

  • Experience coordinating with multiple IC partners

  • Familiarity with key US foreign policy and national security Counterterrorism (CT) objectives

  • Strong attention to detail and previous writing experience supporting an IC customer

  • Ability to think and act quickly in a high pressure environment

  • Familiarity with cable writing styles and classified client databases, including specific targeting tools

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree 5 years of experience; OR a Master’s degree 3 years of experience. Career level with a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts. Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 5 - 7 yrs of experience, or a Master's and 3 - 5 yrs of experience.
