Position description

The Senior Director, Fundraising Priorities leads a team responsible for driving the alignment of programmatic excellence, funding needs and donor interests with emphasis on assigned areas across our breakthroughs.

A trusted source for fundraisers working with corporations, foundations and major donors, you-and members of the team-will be called upon to help guide the pitch and proposal stages to ensure opportunities remain aligned with Agency priorities, funding gaps and match requirements. You will also serve as a liaison between Resource Development and Programs, Advocacy, and Award Management teams among others to ensure our ways of working are fully aligned, delivering against donor objectives and producing the best possible results for children.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Team Leadership (25%):

· Support, lead, coach, and develop a team delivering relevant knowledge on prioritized fundraising areas to advance donor engagement towards our breakthroughs; establishing and improving RD’s ways of working across teams within SCUS and through SCI both at country office and regional level; and contributing perspective to Agency policies involving RD.

Liaison with International Programs and SCI thematic working groups (25%)

· Collaboratively develop annual fundraising priorities with program and policy colleagues as well as metrics to track funds raises against these priorities

· Maintain relationship with all departments within the division, ensuring an efficient and effective collaboration focused on achieving our goals for children

· Identify opportunities for improvement and collaboratively work to devise and implement continuous improvement plans that help streamline processes and results delivery

Fundraising Leadership for priority area (35%):

· Lead on the development of thematic overviews, non-donor specific concept notes and proposals to support all of RD. Gather evidence selling points to support business case to funders. Working with Impact Communications team, contribute vision and guide content to ensure a successful product

· Understand programmatic and policy priorities within priority area

· Communicate with technical leads, country offices and regional offices to understand priorities and secure relevant content for new opportunities

· Guide go/ no-go process for opportunities within assigned focus area

· Lead on fundraising knowledge management within assigned area, identifying, organizing and sharing most helpful content as it is developed

· Lead on the development of thematic overviews, non-donor specific concept notes and proposals to support all of RD. Gather evidence selling points to support business case to funders. Working with Impact Communications team, contribute vision and guide content to ensure a successful product

· Coordinate and facilitate programmatic presentations to RD within assigned focus area

· Coordinate and facilitate Business Team/RD quarterly meetings to review pipelines and surface needs, concerns and opportunities to improve new commitments and stewardship of awards

· Assess wins and losses to identify patterns

Visibility and Donor facing engagement: 15%:

· Identify and manage a roster of spokespeople for donor calls, panels, and presentations

· Attend donor calls and in person visits to expertly present Save the Children’s approach to Gender Equality

· Identify conferences, panels, publications and social media channels to elevate Save the Children’s profile within assigned priority area

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 10 years of related experience

· Proven success supporting, coaching, leading and developing staff

· Demonstrated knowledge of issues affecting children and the latest thinking on proven and emerging interventions

· Demonstrated experience with program design, result framework, and monitoring and evaluation for cross-thematic projects (i.e. gender equality, climate resilience)

· Demonstrated ability to communicate technical subject matter and make it accessible for varying audiences

· Proven ability to successfully collaborate cross-functionally and cross-culturally

· Demonstrated success leading proposals through every stage of the process

· Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

· Professional proficiency in MS Office suite

· Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%
