The Government Relations Manager for the UK and Ireland will deliver on Zoom’s UK and Ireland government relations strategies to further promote Zoom’s interests.  

The Manager will maintain and develop relationships with government  officials at all appropriate levels to manage public policy issues for Zoom as well as developing legislative and regulatory solutions as required. The Manager will work with government officials and elected officials, at national as well as regional and  local level to meet these objectives. They will quickly establish a track record of promoting awareness and understanding of Zoom and educate stakeholders around Zoom’s products, policies, and values.

To achieve her/his goals, the Manager will also engage directly with  influential think tanks, industry organizations and other relevant civil society groups to stay aware of important developments in the market and to then positively influence public policy discussions in the UK and Ireland.  

The Manager will report to the Government Relations Director for the UK and Ireland. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Zoom’s leadership is aware of and understands the business significance of policy developments of relevance to the company in a proactive and timely way.

  • Assisting in identifying legislative and other policy trends and developing strategies and policy language to further Zoom’s interests.

  • Identifying, tracking, and advising on introduced and proposed legislation and other policy initiatives.

  • Collaborating with Zoom’s legal, compliance, business, and communications teams on market-specific legislative efforts as well as any new regulatory frameworks that are pursued or implemented.

  • Developing a broad and deep network of relationships with policymakers, thought leaders, and other policy professionals that enhance Zoom’s reputation as a constructive and thoughtful player in the development of public policy.

  • Working with trade associations to maximize collaboration with industry colleagues where joint action is beneficial.

  • Driving Zoom’s thought leadership initiatives and partnerships in Westminster and Dublin with think tanks, policy organizations, and NGOs focused on issues of relevance to Zoom.

  • Working closely with Zoom’s PR team to ensure a tailored communications strategy for Westminster. 

Qualifications

  • Strong experience working with government officials, private sector leaders, and other public policy professionals.

  • Deep understanding of the public policy environment in Westminster and Whitehall, including the entities that most directly impact Zoom.

  • The ability to review and evaluate legislation and technical policy documents.

  • Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Proven track record of consistently productive collaboration with diverse colleagues in a high-speed, technically advanced work environment.

  • A high degree of integrity, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential matters.

  • A Bachelor’s degree, and preferably an advanced degree, in law, public policy, business, economics, international affairs, or similar field.

  • A minimum of five years of experience developing and executing public policy strategies and interacting professionally in a public policy environment.

  • Emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, and a sense of humor.
