Girl Rising seeks to hire an experienced Human Resources leader part-time for the newly created position of Senior Manager, People and Culture. The Senior Manager, People and Culture will report directly to the CEO. We are looking for an experienced, systems-savvy, emotionally intelligent team player with a passion for the mission of our young and growing organization. The candidate will have proven expertise in:

  • HR policy and procedure development and implementation
  • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across a global team
  • Performance management
  • Compensation structures and policies
  • Building positive team culture, particularly across a virtual team

The Senior Manager for People and Culture should have an intense passion for our mission and for supporting great, growing teams around the world and helping them thrive. 



What You’ll Do

As Girl Rising’s first HR role, the Senior Manager for People and Culture will be responsible for codifying an HR infrastructure and introducing best practices that allow the organization to deliver people-centered processes across our global, virtual team of approximately 30 people regarding recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits and onboarding, HR and benefits administration, employee reviews, DEI policies and practices, career advancement opportunities, and workplace culture practices. The Senior Manager for People and Culture is fully responsible for the development and administration of these systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation and administration of  HR systems and policies for employees and long-term contractors
  • Management of Performance Review process across the organization
  • Administration of ongoing HR duties, such as serving as first point of contact for employees/managers for HR matters, planning and leading team events including but not limited to virtual meetings and retreats, updating policies 
  • Creation of DEI and anti-racism policies
  • Leading recruitment activities, including developing job descriptions, screening candidates, leading onboarding and offboarding
  • Creation and updating of compensation structure and policies; oversight of industry standards for non-monetary benefits
  • Management of staff transition and succession planning
  • Management of staff professional development opportunities and processes
  • Planning and execution of ongoing team learning and team building events (virtual and live)
  • Administer ongoing employee surveys on employee experience

Specific ‘Must-Haves” Include:

  • Experience and demonstrable ability to work closely and productively with people from various racial, geographic, religious, sexual, gender, and generational backgrounds
  • Experience in fostering an inclusive workplace
  • An advanced ability to maintain absolute confidentiality, exercise sound independent judgment, and exhibit high levels of integrity and discretion
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of employment law and compliance requirements and HR best practices
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing HR strategies, programs and practices 
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and advising management and staff in an HR capacity
