Position description

Cornell University, unique among peers, is the federal land-grant institution of New York State, a private endowed university, and a member of the Ivy League. The Office of Global Learning (OGL) is part of the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs (OVPIA). As such, we share the mission of developing and supporting global learning activities across the Cornell University community—in Ithaca, New York City, and the world. As a comprehensive international education unit, our office helps Cornellians from around the world grow as global learners. Our team coordinates education abroad experiences for Cornell students, advises international students and scholars on federal immigration and labor regulations, supports the engagement and success of international students and scholars into the Cornell community, and promotes cross-cultural competency on campus and beyond.

What you will do:

As the Program Manager, Short-Term and Experiential Programs for the Office of Global Learning, you will work with faculty members and senior staff to develop and implement accessible, safe, fiscally sound, and meaningful short-term education abroad programs for undergraduate and graduate students. In this new position you will report to the Senior Associate Director of Education Abroad and will support the expansion of policy and processes to guide and enhance short-term programming at Cornell. You will lead on program development and administration as well as enrollment management and advising. Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Formalize a program proposal and review process, project management timelines, and implementation guidelines.
  • Advise faculty on the proposal process and support the creation and implementation of their program itinerary, vendor contracts, and budget. Manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Develop and implement program-specific marketing and recruitment strategies in collaboration with faculty and the communication and marketing teams.
  • Advise students on program options, manage enrollment, support pre-departure orientations, and oversee program assessment and student evaluations.
  • Review program activities for compliance with university academic, financial, and health and safety policies. Implement training of program leaders and collaborate on student incident response.
  • Support the development and implementation of experiential programming based at Cornell’s Global Hubs, helping to connect students with local alumni, in-country networks, and co-curricular opportunities.

What we need:

We are looking for a candidate who is proactive and entrepreneurial that will work effectively across students, faculty, and colleagues abroad. You need to be skilled at balancing ideation with implementation, driving projects, and managing resources. You will also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience in higher education or similar, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience living, studying, or working abroad.

In addition, we would prefer you have:

  • Masters in Higher Education, International Education, Business or similar.
  • Three or more years in a study abroad administrative role or similar.
  • Experience working with faculty and specifically with advising faculty on program development. Experience working abroad.
  • Experience supporting the development of globally focused college-level curriculum.
