Position description

This exciting and stimulating role sits at the heart of Wilton Park, focussed on identifying, developing and delivering events that enable us to lead discussions on global policy. The primary focus is on international diplomacy and development but with the opportunity to work across a range of themes including climate change and sustainability, human rights, defence and security, global health and conflict prevention. This role as part of the Programme Director team will contribute to and support British strategic foreign policy objectives by convening opinion formers and policy makers from around the world to address and resolve issues of critical importance to global security and prosperity.
Working with the Policy and Delivery Teams and across the organisation, each Programme Director develops and delivers a number of events annually as part of Wilton Park’s overall portfolio and in support of Wilton Park’s strategic plan, the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office’s (FCDO) Foreign Policy and Development Priority Objectives (FPDPOs) and the UK’s overarching foreign and development policy objectives.
This role would suit someone with significant experience working in proximity to government in international relations, a track record of securing funding from governmental and non-governmental sources, and proficiency in facilitating and networking. The role will involve a broad range of engagement across both the Wilton Park teams, FCDO and other UK and foreign government departments, and with partners and participants, all of whose contributions are vital to our role at the centre of the UK’s public diplomacy work. You will meet and interact with individuals from many countries and walks of life, helping to establish important dialogue and mutually supportive networks to tackle some of the most pressing issues of the day.
In return for your enthusiasm and commitment, we will provide a stimulating and rewarding position amongst a team of committed professionals in a highly supportive work environment.
