Position description

As our Director, Operations you will bring your innovative leadership to help lead Student Reporting Labs during an exciting period of growth and change. With an architect’s passion for strategy, systems and details, you must be adept at balancing multiple projects at once, articulating needs, identifying issues, finding solutions and celebrating successes. You must be passionate about youth development, journalism, and supporting a growing team. You must be highly organized and analytical. If you are a talented entrepreneurial leader who is eager to learn and enjoys organizing ambitious programming with a creative, collaborative team then this is the role for you.

In your first 90 days, you will connect with the team to understand their job functions and learn what motivates them, and the tools they need for success. You will level up your SRL knowledge by meeting with leadership, absorb the mechanics of the department’s current operational infrastructure, including budgets, communications, curriculum, data management, education programming and content.

You will quickly adapt to working in a remote environment and seamlessly use digital tools at your disposal to build relationships with colleagues across the country. You understand the importance of being an effective and compassionate leader, and working collaboratively to achieve a desired goal. You will familiarize yourself with our mission, work, educational resources and survey other colleagues to learn our production priorities. You are a problem solver, identifying issues early and mobilizing different parts of the organization to devise and implement creative solutions. You will be able to work independently and be seen as a reliable mentor and coach by others on the team.
