Position description

General Objective of the position

Support Programme Coordinators in Latin America and Africa in every key steps of the project cycle management, in particular, in proposal formulation, resource acquisitions, grants management, projects implementation and monitoring & evaluation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support donor prospect research for Latin America and Africa region including background checks according to PI’s ethical guidelines, and the preparation of fundraising missions;
  • Participate in the annual planning of the programme and its quarterly review, ensuring that the plan reflects the global and regional strategy;
  • Support project teams in regional hubs/country office in developing an integrated action plan with all the on-going projects, highlighting each donor's contractual obligations;
  • Participate in the development of concept notes and project documents, terms of references for key project activities and activity reports;
  • Support the preparation and revision of periodic reports to donors to ensure clarity, readability, coherence and logical sequence;
  • Support the Programme Coordinators in the organisation of proposal design workshops, project launch workshops, mid-term reviews, lessons learned, and some specific activities in Belgium/in the field;
  • Support for the implementation and maintenance of a functional monitoring, evaluation and reporting system for PI programme in Africa and Latin America, including the establishment of baselines, pre/post-tests, feedback forms, interviews;
  • Liaise regularly PI hubs and field office to keep abreast of project contexts needs, activities, provide advice on compliance with donor requirements;
  • Ensure the collection of accurate and continuous data in relation to contractual obligations and the storage of monitoring and evaluation data collected during the project, in coordination with the project teams;
  • Support Africa and Latin American project teams in the collection, analysis of good practices and lessons learned and their dissemination at the global level;
  • Support the development of communication materials for donors showing the added value and technical expertise of PI in Africa and Latin America, including compelling stories, cases studies, country and thematic fact sheets;
  • Keep abreast of the political and human rights situation in the region and contribute to the development of briefing papers on the situation of HRDs in the region.



  • University degree in social sciences, international development, journalism, communication, or other relevant fields.


  • Experience in assisting programme implementation, project development, monitoring & evaluation, and knowledge management is an advantage;
  • Work experience (including internships) in Africa and/or Latin America is a strong plus;
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills;
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work in a very culturally diverse team;
  • Ability to work autonomously after initial training and guidance;
  • Sense of priorities and responsibilities.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of human rights and regional expertise is highly desirable;
  • Familiarity with gender equality and intersectional issues (gender, age, social class issues, disability) is an asset;
  • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and solution oriented;
  • Able to work in teams as well as to take initiative and work autonomously.


  • Fluency in English, French and Spanish (written and oral) is essential.
