Location: Offices are in Williamsburg, Virginia but staff works remotely. Proof of residence in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
The Peace Operations Training Institute seeks an experienced professional to serve as their next Chief of Institutional Relations. This individual will manage POTI’s e-learning programs and partnerships with international peacekeeping organizations.
This is a management position, and the selected applicant will be responsible for strategic planning and developing priorities for the Institutional Relations department. The ideal candidate will be able to function independently with little supervision and have experience managing subordinates.
The overarching mission of POTI is to provide globally accessible self-paced, online, on-demand courses on peace support, humanitarian relief, and security operations at little to no cost to the student. We are committed to bringing essential, practical knowledge to military personnel, police, and civilians working towards peace worldwide. Key course themes include human rights, international humanitarian law, women’s rights, child protection, cultural heritage property protection, and similar topics. POTI was established in 2008 and is based in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA.
The applicant's duties will include (but are not limited to):
Institutional and Programmatic Relations
Manage institutional partnerships with national and regional peacekeeping training centres to encourage participation in POTI e-learning programs. The Chief of Institutional Relations will manage outreach to AU, EU, and UN missions, and will research new partnership opportunities, identify key points of contact, and generate interest. The ideal candidate will have experience building and strengthening relationships with global partners.
They will also represent POTI in meetings at UNHQ and permanent missions to the UN, international conferences, and military/police institutions.
Supervise and support the Assistant Chief of Institutional Relations, African Programmes-UN Mission Coordinator, and occasional intern in their duties, responsibilities, and reporting.
Serve as the Secretary to the Institute’s international Board of Directors, which includes taking meeting minutes and producing drafts.
