Position description

This role is to lead and own the end-to-end Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) IB workflow in the US. The EDD Desk is responsible for performing research for Credit Suisse’s high-risk clients (existing and new) and providing related administrative and case management support, with a particular focus on due diligence on the bank’s High Risk Client population in the US Division. Clients that pose higher money laundering or terrorist financing risks, (i.e., higher risk profile customers), present increased risk exposure to Credit Suisse. Enhanced Due Diligence refers to the in-depth due diligence for clients deemed to present a heightened financial crimes risk to CS in order to gain a detailed understanding of the customer’s ownership structure and related parties among other information, and implementing additional requirements that may mitigate the risk.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with business partners to actively manage the EDD client pipeline and conduct capacity planning exercises to ensure accurate resourcing for anticipated volumes
  • Advising partners on the EDD process and ensuring adherence to the program
  • Developing and implementing process efficiencies to optimize team performance and quality
  • Maintaining key controls within the EDD workflow and ensuring they are adhered to by all partners
  • Owning and updating policies and procedures as they relate to the EDD process
  • Representing the US EDD function for internal audit and regulatory examinations
  • Producing and presenting key performance metrics for the US EDD function at monthly management forums
  • Managing UAT testing of the case management system from an EDD perspective while engaging with technology partners to implement improvements and identify defects
  • Acting as the EDD lead for working groups involving business partners, technology and other compliance functions
  • Conducting online research using open source and proprietary databases (e.g., Lexis Advance, Factiva, World Check, etc.) and draft concise analytical reports accounting for and assessing any money-laundering, financial crime, and political risk associated with the bank’s High Risk population
  • Manage/Assess both client and firm risk, while conducting assessments of the firms highest risk clients
  • Other investigative tasks as required, including ad hoc investigative requests from Client ID, Front Office, etc

The candidate will work on the Enhanced Due Diligence Desk, under the umbrella of the larger Client Lifecycle Controls IB group. The candidate will work with the management team and report to the Head of Client Lifecycle Controls IB. Your skills and experience



We are looking for highly motivated candidates with 6+ years of experience with corporate/business intelligence, investigative due diligence experience in the financial or professional consultancy industries.

  • Experience in leading change across an organization through influence and collaboration, validated leadership skills in a team
  • Experience handling staff in the financial industry
  • Ability to meet strict timeline and provide key performance metrics to management
  • Experience with risk and controls
  • Ability to conduct due diligence research and identify/analyze client related AML risks
  • Passionate to work independently and has experience working with partners and customers
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in concise written form
  • Proven understanding of financial crime risks
  • A Bachelor’s degree in qualitative field (e.g. International Relations; Journalism; Law; Politics; Government; English; History; Criminal Justice; etc.)
  • Detailed understanding of online research and desk-based investigative techniques (e.g. Lexis, Factiva, World Check, etc.)
  • Proficiency in full Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel (V-Look Up, Pivot Table, etc.) and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of political, financial crime, corruption matters
  • Proficient knowledge of US Customer Due Diligence (CDD) policy/practices
  • ACAMS certified
