Position description

Joule Assets Europe is a mission driven organization dedicated to ensuring that engages with financial funds, project developers, regulators, manufacturers and national associations as a centre for expertise and change. Our mission is to ensure that no viable project able to support the fight against climate change, access the finance they require. As such we are a European leader in providing strategic support to enable investment for Sustainable Energy Assets projects, including energy efficiency, distributed renewables, storage and building control measures. Joule's online platform, eQuad, provides access to third-party project valuation, performance insurance, project certification, risk assessment, due diligence, and introductions to prequalified capital sources. We are also launching a pan-European industry association dedicated to this same goal involving a wide range of stakeholders. As such we are looking for capable, motivated and goal-oriented people to help drive this effort.

Joule Assets is seeking a Director of Business Development able to grow Joule’s commercial activities in Europe. We are looking for a dynamic, ambitious candidate with strong interpersonal skills, who is service and goal oriented. Key activities will include the organization and engagement of stakeholders and creation of partnerships in European projects and beyond, management activities in the establishment of an association and client support. The selected candidate will work from Joule’s Brussels office and report to Michael Pachlatko, Director of Joule Europe in Italy as well as cooperate with the Joule Assets New York office.

Responsibilities – as a Director of Business Development, you will:

  • Actively participate in internal strategic discussions on prioritizing initiatives
  • Represent Joule Assets and its core initiatives at policy and industry roundtables and events
  • Identify and recruit and manage association members and partners (contractors, energy service companies, investors) for Joule’s European initiatives
  • Organize events and other company activities in cooperation with the communications and management staff
  • Manage and oversee Joule’s involvement in the EC-funded projects (LIFE, HorizonEU)
  • Co-design and lead the implementation of a business expansion strategy, that further solidifies Joule Assets’ presence in key European markets
  • Build, promote and maintain strong, long-lasting business relationships by understanding the needs of our business partners
  • Liaise with policy makers, industry associations and public authorities to drive the clean energy transition in the built environment

In completing these tasks, you will work closely with, and have the support of, the company’s executive staff, sales and marketing staff, and research and analysis staff.

Experience - the ideal candidate should:

  • have at least 3 years of sales and/or business development experience in the sustainable energy sector
  • have excellent communication and writing skills and experience.
  • have a deep knowledge of European sustainable energy policy, possibly having worked for an association, think tank or NGO in this sector and/or have a solid knowledge of project finance, finance structures and associated risks
  • have an existing network in the sustainable energy sector
  • be fluent in English (any other European language a plus, e.g. French or Italian)

Compensation and Scope

This is a full-time position offering an annual gross salary between 60-65’000€ and a complementary benefits package. The successful candidate is expected to start as soon as possible.
