Position description

IntraHealth International is now hiring a Senior Manager of New Business Development. In this pivotal role, you will work with a wide range of teams worldwide – including program management professionals, technical experts, finance staff, key support services staff, and country offices – to aid IntraHealth secure new funding to support its work. You will also develop and maintain specialized knowledge of specific regions, countries, and technical areas of priority to IntraHealth. When developing proposals, you will participate in or lead project design and may contribute to writing key sections of proposals.

Key responsibilities include

  • Lead proposal development teams, liaising with program, finance, communications, contracts, and country office staff to ensure high quality proposals are submitted
  • Lead formation of partnerships with international and local non-governmental organizations for proposals and future opportunities
  • Conduct capture research efforts to collect data and technical information that will inform strategy creation and proposal writing, that reflects an understanding of the local technical context, strengths and weaknesses of competitors, the donor landscape, and client preferences
  • Work with colleagues to set win themes and guide their incorporation into proposal sections
  • Work closely with other team members to ensure that the proposal is well written, cohesive, organized according to donor requirements, and that all technical proposal sections are consistent and aligned
  • Provide leadership in implementation of organization’s BD strategy, expanding IntraHealth’s portfolio in strategic program and technical areas
  • Conduct exploratory trips to and engage with donors and potential partners and staff
  • Monitor and track business opportunities for priority countries and assess organizational fit
  • Lead debrief sessions with key members of proposal teams to identify and document lessons learned and best practices for future efforts

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field and six or more years of relevant professional experience in international development (project implementation or management or new business development highly preferred); or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study and at least eight years of relevant professional experience
  • A minimum of five years of experience in leading the development of high quality, large-scale proposals for USG, foundations, and other donors, working with multiple partners and within tight deadlines
  • Minimum three years of experience in a management role on a business development team with an organization or contractor focused on the US Agency for International Development (USAID)
  • An understanding of funding trends and relationships within global health
  • Excellent skills in proposal writing, editing, formatting
  • Clear track record mentoring and training other professionals to excel in various proposal development roles
  • Excellent understanding of proposal development processes and proposal components
  • Ability to collaborate successfully in a remote working environment
  • French and/or Spanish strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
