Dress for Success Greater New York City (GNYC) is the programming hub of Dress for Success Worldwide that provides direct services to women across the five boroughs in New York City. Job Description:

The Development and Communications Manager (DCM) will coordinate and execute aspects of concurrent development and communications projects from the concept stage to successful completion. The ideal candidate will be experienced with generating project documentation, creating and tracking tasks and workflows, managing priorities and requests, and managing risks and impacts. This position will also provide project support and direction while maintaining a master schedule of all projects and activities. The DCM will be required to create and maintain clear channels of communication with both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and maintain a high standard of quality. 

The goal of this position is to partner, support, and collaborate with GNYC team members to design, implement, evaluate, and manage assigned project tasks. Additionally, this position will be responsible for converting project requirements into tasks and determining task priorities for all related team members and project stakeholders. The DCM will report to and collaborate with the Interim Executive Director in fostering a welcoming, safe, and professional atmosphere for clients, team members, and the broader DFS community. The DCM will also coordinate collaborate and partner with Dress for Success Worldwide as required.

Responsibilities:

Development

  • Identifying potential funding sources, including individual donors, corporations, foundations and grant funding opportunities
  • Cultivate and nurture stakeholder donations from individual donors, corporations and government agencies with guidance from the Interim Director
  • Leverage evaluation expertise for outcome measurement tracking of key performance indicators related to development activities
  • Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to proactively adapt business strategies and maintain a competitive edge

Communication

  • Develop and support a comprehensive GNYC program’s communications strategy that enhances GNYC visibility and overall engagement with clients, corporate partners and key regional stakeholders
  • Manage the GNYC content for client facing publications, including website, social media, and other client related information, ensuring its current and effectively communicating mission
  • Continuously collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with DFS Worldwide communications strategy
  • Leverage evaluation expertise for outcome measurement tracking of key performance indicators related to communications activities

Project Management

  • Responsible for the overall planning, direction, coordination, execution, control and completion of all assigned projects
  • Develop project management plans that monitor and track project progress
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Plan, organize, and execute events, such as corporate engagements, fundraising efforts, galas, auctions and community activities
  • Support GNYC team with developing and enhancing work flow and process procedures
  • Collaborate with GNYC team and key stakeholders, to manage event logistics and volunteer management
  • Manage CRM database to track contributions, clients, donors and key stakeholder interactions
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and effectiveness of GNCY team members
  • Maintain career center commitment to DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), compliance and ethical standards to create a safe and welcoming environment
  • Ability to create clear, concise, and compelling project documents, materials, and presentations
  • Leverage evaluation expertise for outcome measurement tracking of key performance indicators related to project management activities
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience, including project management

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position with a business schedule from Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Employees must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Workdays and times may be proactively adjusted to meet programming and business needs.Limited travel may be required.
