NatCen International is the global team of the National Centre for Social Research, Britian’s largest independent social research organisation with more than 50 years of experience in the field. Through rigorous research, training, advisory services and policy engagement, NatCen International works to empower societies to shape social policy and practice globally. 

The International Team is a multidisciplinary team with expertise in a wide range of international development and social policy areas including peace, conflict and security, countering violent extremism and terrorism, migration, climate change, health, philanthropy, civic engagement, education, economic growth, gender, humanitarian policy and human rights. We have a successful track record in leading projects, large and small, and expertise in complex project and consortium management.

Our work is global, and we work in partnership with local governments, businesses, organisations, universities and research centres to ensure that our research is rooted in the lived social and economic realities of the countries we engage in.

The Director of NatCen International is an experienced and strategic leader responsible for providing intellectual leadership and guidance to a team of outstanding research and social policy experts. They lead on setting the strategic direction of the centre in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, the CEO, the Leadership team, the Senior Management team and the NatCen International Advisory Board. They hold responsibility for revenue growth and overseeing and quality assuring all research, training and advisory support outputs in key geographies including (but not limited to) Southeast Asia, the MENA region, Africa and Latin America. Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide intellectual, strategic and operational leadership to NatCen International, including building and managing an engaged and growing international team.
  • Engage and expand a senior advisory board of key stakeholders to help guide the direction of NatCen International and the NatCen International Academy, the consultancy and training arm of the Centre. 
  • Proactively identify and engage with donors to attract their interest in and funding for NatCen International.
  • Develop influencing strategies and engage externally with a wide range of stakeholders to promote NatCen International and to develop it as a recognized brand globally, drawing on the advice and expertise of NatCen’s marketing and communications team.
  • Develop the organizational expertise and partnerships needed to establish NatCen International across a range of topic areas, such as Gender Equality and Social Inclusivity, CT, Violence and Human Rights, Global Health, Governance and Economic Growth, Education, Global Britain.
  • Provide advice, guidance and quality assurance for research, training courses and advisory support including large scale projects to time and budget, delivering first-class research to meet customer needs. 
  • Develop and mentor the team’s staff (and beyond, where appropriate). 
  • Maintain and promote high ethical and information security standards.
  • Promote the application of NatCen International and NatCen’s values within the team.
