2) About the Role
The Senior Membership Officer coordinates the work of the Membership & Operations team and leads the implementation of the ESN Membership Development and Engagement Strategy.
3) Key Responsibilities
Membership Coordination & Engagement:
- Builds strong relationships with member organisations to promote their active participation in the network;
- Collaborates across teams to ensure consistent and engaging messaging to members;
- Coordinates implementation of membership engagement actions for all ESN activities and projects;
- Ensures implementation of the onboarding process for new members;
- Identifies opportunities for ESN staff to visit members and attend members’ events and activities;
- Identifies and invites members to participate in ESN activities in coordination with other teams.
Membership Development & Reporting:
- Coordinates implementation of membership development actions for all ESN activities and projects; e.g. reports and presentations for potential members;
- Monitors operational and membership trends, preparing internal and external operations and member reports, and identifying opportunities for improvement;
- Coordinates drafting of annual membership report including members engagement;
- Drafts membership-related content for donors funding-requests;
- Drafts membership updates for governance bodies.
Operations, Systems and Data:
- Coordinates the implementation of membership engagement and development strategies for ESN activities: Annual Seminar, ESN Working Groups, Annual Members Meeting, Conference and Awards;
- Keeps overview of annual membership payments, expense reimbursements, finance and data input into the CRM;
- Ensures the planning, organisation, and content management of the Members Area.
HR:
- Line-manages an officer and an intern, providing guidance and support.

Qualifications
4) Qualifications
This dynamic role requires excellent organisational and communications skills. Candidates must have:
Education & Experience:
- Master’s in social sciences, business administration, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience);
- 5+ years of experience in operations, membership-based work at national, European or international organisation or network;
- Business development experience is desirable;
- Project management experience with coordination, budget management, implementation and reporting skills;
- Ability to identify risks in programme implementation and good problem-solving skills to ensure timely delivery within budget.
Communication & Interpersonal:
- Near-native written and oral competence in English; fluency in at least one other European language;
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and highly resourceful.
Skills & Competencies:
- Experience working with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot CRM), with a clear understanding of their strategic importance and potential for the development of a mem-bership organisation;
- Highly organised and able to keep a detailed record of members data using the CRM;
- Innovative, entrepreneurial and open-minded approach to membership development;
- Ability to adapt to different work approaches, settings and languages;
- Cultural and political sensitivity in relations with internal colleagues, national members, partners and external stakeholders.
