Position description

The Program Assistant, Girls’ Education Program will provide technical and operational support for the successful implementation of the Girls Education initiative. The role involves supporting the program planning, implementation, and monitoring while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and quality standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • Oversee 4 Gender Resource Centers (GRC) in MP;
  • Maintain stock and assets;
  • Handling invoicing, and financial reconciliations under program guidelines.

Program Management:

  • Provide field-level technical assistance and mentoring to ensure high-quality implementation;
  • Manage, execute and track GEP program implementation based on the plans and program strategy;
  • Implement strategies to strengthen relationships with government officials at district and block levels;
  • Facilitate review meetings with key stakeholders;
  • Assist program officer and government officials in establishing GRCs in the program geography;
  • Support PO to identify the referrals of those organizations, people etc. in the community that aligns with the objective of the program, works towards providing an enabling environment for girls’ education especially from the tribal communities. This information should be quarterly updated;
  • Assist schoolteachers in preparing life skills sessions for delivery with girls.

Teacher Supervision, Training and Capacity building:

  • Train teachers and government functionaries on program content and related themes;
  • Observe sessions, provide constructive feedback and targeted coaching, and use observation tools to foster an inclusive and equitable school ecosystem;
  • Provide ongoing handholding support to Master Trainers (MTs) and teachers to ensure effective program delivery.

Data and Reporting:

  • Conduct regular visits to school, project locations during ongoing activities for regular monitoring as per plan finalized and submit report in desired format;
  • Collect and consolidate field data, including program records, and implementation details;
  • Analyse various data and information from the field, develop programmatic correlations, and flag issues for larger discussion;
  • Track the quality standards in the program and provide regular updates to the Program Officer;
  • Document best practices, case studies, photos, and lessons learned, and share them with the GEP team for continuous learning and improvement;
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports summarizing progress, challenges, and recommendations to the supervisor and CO, as per the standard template;
  • Collection and compilation of Monthly Program Report and Quarterly Progress Report from field staff and ensure its timely submission to RtR SO.

Program Monitoring:

  • Conduct joint monitoring visits for the observation of LS sessions, provide teacher support and understand the intricacies of program delivery;
  • Make regular joint visits to project schools with key government officials from block and district levels, as per program design, and in coordination with the supervisor, for supportive supervision and monitoring as per the defined template.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in social work, Public Administration, Sociology, Education, or any other relevant area;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in education programs, preferably with a focus on girls' education or gender equality and community development;
  • Awareness of issues pertaining to girls’ education, gender transformative education and adolescent empowerment;
  • Proven experience of working with tribal/marginalized community;
  • Proven ability for large set data management and reporting;
  • Proven experience of working with educators;
  • Innovative thinking with problem solving approach with ability to work independently;
  • Sensitive and empathetic towards the cause of education for girls and adolescent issues of girls;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to manage diverse tasks and interact with the varied stakeholders involved in the program;
  • Computer literacy in standard word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software along with internet skills.
