Designation: District Coordinator

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh

The incumbent should be based out of the given districts or neighbouring locations in respective states. Since Girl Rising is a remote organization, the incumbent is expected to work out of their homes with frequent travel to schools, partner organization’s offices, local government offices, and communities as needed.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and industry standards.

Project Details

Girl Rising’s project in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh will focus on building self-confidence, voice and aspiration of adolescents with the goal of achieving long-term outcomes like reduced early pregnancies/marriages, preventing school dropouts, and increasing access to higher education and career development.

Project Design

The project is designed to empower adolescents and encourage stakeholders like parents, teachers and community members to create a favorable environment for adolescents to thrive. A holistic curriculum, developed based on Girl Rising’s decade of experience, will be delivered in government schools with the support of teachers and school administration. This curriculum will cover critical themes, including digital literacy, financial literacy, social-emotional learning, storytelling, gender sensitization and climate action. In addition to this, sessions will be conducted with parents of these adolescents to build their awareness on similar topics so that adolescents also have access to a supportive environment at home.

The project will be implemented in partnership with a credible community-based organization which not only has a good understanding of the context of the state, but has also worked closely with the community for the last few decades. Partner organizations will implement the curriculum in schools, through teachers. To measure the curriculum and the project’s effectiveness and impact, Girl Rising will also conduct pre- and post-assessments, building evidence of behavioural and attitudinal changes among adolescents, parents, and teachers.

Scope of Work

The District Coordinator will play an important role in ensuring the effective implementation and coordination of the project. They will also act as the primary liaison between all stakeholders involved in the project - namely Girl Rising as the anchor organization, the implementing partner, and local stakeholders namely government schools, teachers, parents, district and state/district government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for Girl Rising with local stakeholders, including the implementation partner, Field Staff, Parents, Teachers, School Administrations, and the local government.
    • Build and nurture trust-based relationships with teachers and school administration in implementation schools to ensure smooth project delivery.
    • Facilitate meaningful community engagement with parents to encourage participation in Girl Rising’s sessions and align with project goals
    • Represent Girl Rising in all community forums including meetings with teachers, parents, panchayats to promote the project’s work and foster collaboration.
    • Represent Girl Rising in all block, district and state level government meetings Nurture good relationships with key government officials in the state to ensure long-term potential for scalability and sustainability of the project
    • Identify opportunities for Girl Rising India to strengthen government relationships
  • Training of Teachers:
    • Responsible for supporting the implementation partner and Girl Rising in the Training of Teachers which will be conducted twice during the project implementation.
    • In close coordination with the Girl Rising India team, collaborate with the implementation partner to design Training Agendas, plan the logistics and deliver sessions
    • Facilitate training sessions providing perspectives to enrich teachers engagement and understanding
    • Lead Teacher engagement by conducting frequent meetings, and fostering strong relationships to build buy-in, motivation and alignment with project goals.
  • Project Management:
    • Ensure field-level activities are completed as per the laid out timeline
    • Align timelines of curriculum implementation in school, parent sessions, teachers training, and other community engagements.
    • Conduct regular field visits, school visits, meetings with all stakeholders, to ensure steady progress, and identify opportunities of improvement.
    • Planning and coordinating visits to showcase project activities and impact.
  • On-Field Partnerships:
    • Responsible for maintaining a strong partnership with the implementation organization on-ground.
    • Build and maintain a strong relationship with the field team of the implementing organization to ensure there is collaboration and support in project delivery.
    • Act as the point person for the implementation organization’s field team, addressing their queries, supporting in troubleshooting and providing timely guidance.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Work with the implementation organization’s team to ensure timely submission of required records and documents to Girl Rising.
    • Relay all field-related insights and updates to the internal Girl Rising team.
    • Work closely with the Girl Rising project Team to facilitate all MEL activities including pre and post assessments and all other periodic monitoring activities.
    • Coordinate and monitor the work of Data Collectors to ensure the quality of data collected is adequate.
  • Documentation & Communications:
    • Ensure proper documentation of all key activities including meetings, sessions and visits to provide timely updates, field insights, photographs and other required project details.
    • Documentation of stories of change highlighting the impact of the project on all key stakeholders
