Reporting virtually to the Director of Programs, the Manager of Indigenous American and U.S. Programs will manage a new initiative, setting up and facilitating Glow Clubs in Native, Indigenous and Tribal communities throughout the United States. This manager will be responsible for coordinating a successful pilot in Rapid City, South Dakota, ensuring the evaluation of that pilot is conducted effectively, recruiting other community based organizations and tribal communities to implement Glow Clubs in 2024 and ensuring successful program implementation across 5-10 new sites in 2024. This program expansion was made possible through a grant, so this position will likely require interface with reporting and fundraising initiatives as we seek long term funding opportunities to continue this initiative. As the lead manager of US programs, this position will also be responsible for overseeing 2+ team members who implement programs across diverse communities in the United States. The ideal candidate will be from a Native, Indigenous or Tribal community in the United States and someone who will be dedicatedto providing opportunities for girls to lead.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Program Management
The primary responsibilities of this role are to effectively support the implementation of Global G.L.O.W. programs across the region. Responsibilities include:
● Working with a community-based organization (CBO) in Rapid City, South Dakota, oversee the
successful implementation of a pilot program beginning in the school year 2023-2024. This
includes:
○ Assisting with adding elements of Lakota tribal knowledge and traditions into the curricula
(following the lead of the Lakota members at the CBO)
○ Training the primary contact at the CBO in all elements of Glow programming
○ Coordinating for effective mentor training in Rapid City in the summer prior to program
launch
○ Providing support for the primary contact as needed including monthly calls and
collecting monitoring data information monthly (typical partner management support
outlined below)
○ Work closely with the Research and Evaluation team to coordinate an effective pilot
evaluation
○ Provide reports and antidotes for the grant making organization, Global G.L.O.W.
leadership and communications team as the pilot progresses
● Assist with the development and management of a Native American Initiative Committee who can advise on successful implementation strategies for various CBOs and tribal organizations
throughout the U.S.
● Network and recruit 5-10 other values-aligned CBOs and Tribal communities throughout the
United States who can implement this programming effectively in mid-2024.
● In addition to the Native American Initiative, the position will managing a partner portfolio of all
U.S. partners, and staff members managing U.S. partners including (but not limited to):
○ Monitoring program implementation and overseeing program coordinators to ensure
strategic goals are met
○ Completing monthly (virtual) meetings, documenting calls, tracking monthly reporting and
quarterly budgets and budget reconciliation, scheduling and facilitating (virtual) trainings,
and collecting quantitative and qualitative data
○ Ensure the programming components of the strategic plan are successfully implemented
○ Maintaining and expanding programming at partner sites based on girls’ needs and
partner’s capacity through consistent communication and reporting structures
○ Training and preparing Partnership Coordinators for their role and to support mentors in
implementing curriculum in their community based on their unique needs
○ Supporting partners through annual programmatic and budget planning as well as
trouble-shooting programmatic issues during the year
○ Approve monthly Partner Manager payments/cash flow requests
○ Facilitating communication with partners in the U.S. portfolio, ensuring they are up to date
and have all the information they need to
● Assist in identifying, creating and implementing new systems, processes and tools for partnership
management
● Lead internal education efforts to ensure programs are being implemented in a culturally
appropriate way
● Travel to visit Global G.LO.W. Partners in assigned portfolio as budget allows, in order to observe
and evaluate programming, train and support Partner members, and report back to Global
G.L.O.W. Program team
● Other relevant duties as assigned
Relevant Experience and Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree is required from an accredited college or university, Masters degree is
preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for this requirement.
● Affiliation with a Native, Tribal or Indigenous community in the United States strongly preferred
● 5+ years of experience working in or with nonprofits in programs for adolescent youth (girls)
● 5+ years leading effective training across a wide range of programmatic topics
● 5+ years experience in a managerial role, directly supervising staff
● Excellent technical knowledge on gender equality and girls programming
● Strong research, analytical, and synthesis writing and presentation skills
● Ability to work under pressure and handle stress
● Strong financial and budget management skills
● Advanced project management skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through on projects
● Able to work individually and collaboratively with flexibility, enthusiasm, efficiency, and diplomacy
in a cross-cultural, international environment
● Comfort working in a virtual environment (using Zoom, Google Suite, Slack, and WhatsApp)
● Experience working with adolescent youth (girls), strongly preferred
● Experience recruiting and managing volunteers, strongly preferred
