The Associate Vice President (AVP), Strategic Engagement and Operations is a critical leadership role responsible for leading the Global Multilateral Engagement Team and Knowledge Innovation Hub (KIH). This position plays a pivotal role in leading and executing on the One Global Public Policy Team engagement strategy at multilateral organizations (MLO), such as WHO (World Health Organization), WTO (World Trade Organization), G7(Group of Seven) and G20 (Group of 20), and at key global policy platforms, such as Davos, WHA (World Health Assembly) , BIO (Biotechnology Innovation Organization) and UNGA (General Assembly of the United Nations), by leveraging expertise across our franchise and regional policy teams and ensuring our business/ policy objectives are effectively achieved. Additionally, this role encompasses the development and execution of an operations plan to ensure GPP (Global Public Policy) remains at the forefront of industry standards and utilizes the latest tools and insights to drive key goals and objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Lead and manage the Global Multilateral Engagement Team and Knowledge Innovation Hub, ensuring high performance, collaboration, and alignment with organizational objectives.
Provide mentoring and guidance to team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Develop a high-performance culture within the teams, promoting accountability, innovation and excellence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive strategic engagement initiatives.
Strategic Engagement:
Develop and execute a comprehensive, proactive, and impactful One GPP Team engagement strategy across various Multilateral Organizations (MLO) platforms.
Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in MLOs, including policymakers, regulators, and industry experts, to influence policy decisions and advocate for business interests.
Monitor policy trends, industry changes, and geopolitical developments to inform the development of strategic engagement plans.
Collaborate with internal teams to align engagement activities with business goals and objectives.
Represent our company, the Vice President, Global Public Policy (GPP) and other senior leaders at key international forums
Operations Planning:
Develop and execute an operations plan to ensure the Global Public Policy function operates at the forefront of industry standards and best practices.
Implement efficient and scalable processes, tools, and systems to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies relevant to public policy and advocate for their adoption within the organization.
Continuously analyze and improve operational performance through data-driven insights and metrics.
The AVP will work in close collaboration with the VP’s Director of Strategic Operations to ensure the work of KIH is aligned with the VP’s vision, directly supports the VP in key strategic activities and that GPP’s adoption of new KIH processes and tools is supported by effective change leadership.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, etc.). Advanced degree preferred.
Required Experience and Skills:
10+ years in strategic engagement, public policy, or related fields.
Strong understanding of Multilateral Organizations and the global policy landscape.
Excellent leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
Exceptional written, oral and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans and initiatives.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to navigate complex and dynamic regulatory environments.
Familiarity with technological advancements and tools relevant to public policy.
