We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Homeland Security Intelligence Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of intelligence analysis techniques, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for protecting Georgia’s citizens.
With a focus on emergency management and homeland security, the Homeland Security Intelligence Analyst position is responsible for preparing detailed analytical intelligence reports, delivering presentations and briefings derived from all-source analysis and participating in speaking engagements at security conferences and meetings.
Under limited supervision from the intelligence manager, the analyst will work independently and in teams to perform social media monitoring to assess potential threats, research open-source information, conduct data analysis, and deliver intelligence information to key stakeholders including federal, state, and local government partners. Intelligence products will be generated in response to requests for information or by initiative.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
·Identify potential threats to public safety and homeland security issues impacting the State of Georgia.
·Collect, analyze, and interpret a wide range of intelligence information, including classified and open-source materials.
·Produce timely and accurate intelligence assessments and reports.
·Develop and maintain strong relationships with intelligence partners and stakeholders.
·Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to identify patterns and trends in data.
·Stay current on emerging threats and intelligence trends.
·Participate in interagency collaboration and information sharing.
The ideal candidate:
·Utilizes analytical thinking to assess and interpret intelligence and trends.
·Possesses effective written and oral communication skills.
·Is proficient in research, collection, and analysis of intelligence information and understands the intelligence cycle.
·Has a strong computer background, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS mapping, statistical analysis, and database applications.
Duties include:
Monitoring, analyzing, and preparing reports related to special events, disasters, terrorism, threats to life, and any other incident deemed important by the Director of GEMA/HS. This will include monitoring social media and other open sources for intelligence that will benefit the operations and decision making of state resources.
Provide intelligence products, data, and research to the Homeland Security Coordinators in the area of school safety, threat to life, and special events.
Additional responsibilities of the analyst position include, but are not limited to, the following:
·Knowledge of the fields of criminal justice or intelligence.
·Knowledge of 28 CRF part 23 and implications on intelligence information collection, storage, and dissemination
·Knowledge of developing technologies and value and limitation of various software products as related to the position.
·Knowledge of intelligence-related research methods, including qualitative and quantitative techniques, statistics, structured analytic techniques, and datamining.
·Ability to operate a computer/computer application and to quickly learn new software programs.
·Working knowledge of the national, operational, and tactical intelligence methods.
·Ability to organize data into a logical format and prepare presentations, reports, charts, graphs, diagrams, and other pictorial representations of statistical data.
·Ability to work collaboratively on a team.
·Demonstrate the ability to work in a positive and helpful manner with local governments and federal, state, and local emergency management agency officials.
·Ability to speak in front of groups and make effective presentations.
·Establishes and maintains liaison activity with partner agencies and ensures effective exchange of intelligence information.
Position Specific Minimum Qualification:
·Bachelor’s degree in Intelligence Studies, International Relations, National Security, Political Science, Emergency Management, Data Science and Analysis, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
·Ability to travel overnight, statewide, and regionally, as dictated by the functions of the position and the business needs of the agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Competency in job related content areas as demonstrated by:
·Extensive professional level public safety work experience, including experience in intelligence and emergency management.
·Experience working in a multi-agency environment.
· Completion of FEMA ICS and NIMS training courses
Qualifications – External
·Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND five years of experience related to the area of assignment. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
