Position Overview
Too Young to Wed (TYTW) is seeking a skilled and mission-driven Senior Communications Lead (Global) to oversee the execution of its unified global communications strategy. This contractor role will focus on amplifying TYTW’s mission, engaging stakeholders, and coordinating efforts across its global staff. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with experience in nonprofit communications and a passion for advocating for marginalized girls. The role will also involve leading and coordinating a team of contractors to achieve the organization’s communication goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Implementation
- Execute TYTW’s unified global communications strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and manage a communications calendar focusing on campaigns, advocacy efforts, and donor engagement activities.
- Provide strategic guidance to the Executive Director and leadership team on global communications.
- Content Development and Storytelling
- Create compelling narratives that highlight TYTW’s global impact through blogs, social media posts, newsletters, annual reports, and press releases.
- Coordinate the development of high-quality visual storytelling materials, including videos and photography, in collaboration with contractors and staff.
- Ensure consistency in messaging across all platforms and materials.
- Team Coordination and Management
- Lead and coordinate a team of contractors working on global communications projects, ensuring alignment with TYTW’s goals and timelines.
- Provide guidance and oversight to contractors contributing to content development, media relations, and advocacy campaigns.
- Facilitate collaboration across the team to maintain consistency in messaging and quality of deliverables.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with global stakeholders, including donors, partners, and media contacts.
- Organize and facilitate webinars, virtual events, and donor briefings to foster engagement and support.
- Collaborate with TYTW’s global staff to ensure their contributions are reflected in communications materials.
- Media Relations
- Cultivate relationships with international journalists and media outlets.
- Draft and distribute press releases and feature stories to amplify TYTW’s visibility.
- Monitor media coverage and manage responses to inquiries.
- Advocacy Campaigns
- Design and implement advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about child marriage and TYTW’s initiatives.
- Leverage TYTW’s visual assets for global advocacy efforts.
- Coordinate traveling exhibits and events in collaboration with museums, schools, and cultural institutions.
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Track and report on key communications metrics, including audience engagement and campaign performance.
- Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and enhance effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit or global communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proven ability to manage media relations and execute successful campaigns.
- Familiarity with digital marketing, social media platforms, and content management systems.
- Experience leading and coordinating teams of contractors or staff.
- Experience working in a remote, globally distributed team environment.
- Knowledge of global development, gender equity, or human rights issues.

Compensation
