Job Summary

The Global Controller leads and analyzes the financial status of the company and works with the CFO to develop strategic and long-term financial goals and direct the preparation of all financial reports, statements, audits, and controls. This position is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the organization’s financial reporting internally and externally including donor reporting. The Global Controller will ensure that internal controls are in place, enforced, and reviewed for conformance to accounting and financial standards and applicable regulations.  

Responsibilities

Roles and Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain and analyze the general ledger accounting records, conduct research and resolve technical accounting issues and oversee month-end close and general ledger activity. Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze financial statements and prepare reports ensuring the information accurately reflects the organization’s financial activities and clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of organization’s assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
• Directs all HQ audit activity, including the 2 CFR 200 US government audit. Oversee the preparation of Form 990 and other required tax filings
• Create and implement processes and procedures for the financial management system; identify areas of improvement or opportunity as needed.
• Lead the grants management processes related to financial activities and reporting in compliance with donor regulations. 
• Oversee HQ financial operational functions including accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable.
• Develop and implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all country programs.
• Provide effective supervision to accounting staff by ensuring standard accounting principles as well as CRS processes and procedures are followed in keeping financial records.
 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Economics or Finance.
• Solid knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and U.S. Government funding regulations for non-profit organizations
• Minimum 10 years of financial and/or program management experience within an international operations environment, with a minimum of 7 years in a supervisory position
• Past experience in managing large geographically distributed programs including multiple projects and/or service delivery efforts
• Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams
• Experience in business change projects and/or business process improvement 

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or MBA
