TheSociety for Research in Child Development (SRCD)is a professional research society established in 1933 by the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences. Our diverse membership of more than 4200 scientists contributes to the child development field. Within our Policy and Government Relations team, we advance our members’ interests in science advocacy in Congress, we implement a Policy Fellowship program, and we connect our members’ work with policymakers, to evidence-based policymaking that aims to improve children’s lives.
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Policy Associate to join our Policy Team and help us improve the lives of children and families. In this work, you will be helping us to design and implement new initiatives that have come out of our strategic plan for policy. Specifically, you will drive forward the growth and improvement in our Policy Fellowship program, help build our members’ capacity to engage in policy issues, and play a crucial role in advancing evidence-based child and family policymaking.
You will report directly to a Policy Manager and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization to achieve these goals. As our Policy Associate, you will have front-row access to the professional development activities that our Policy Fellows have, allowing you to grow your understanding of the policy field. You will be an ambitious policymaker, with a passion for evidence-based policymaking. You will have experience in program management and will be driven to make children and families’ lives better. You will need exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to make smart decisions to guide our Fellowship and policy work.

Compensation and benefits
This is a full-time position based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (the DMV region, which includes D.C., Maryland, and Virginia).
SRCD operates primarily as a remote organization, and team members are welcome to work as often as they wish from our coworking space in Washington, D.C. Staff typically meet there once a month for collaboration and connection. Applicants must reside within the D.C. metropolitan area to participate in these in-person gatherings.
The salary range for this position is $55,000–$58,000, commensurate with experience.
