The Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) of UN DESA manages the website https://sdgs.un.org, the central knowledge platform for the 2030 Agenda. The website serves as a hub for tools, data, publications, partnership platforms and resources that support Member States, stakeholders, and the global community in advancing the SDGs. It plays an important role in Division’s core work by facilitating intergovernmental processes, policy analysis, capacity-building, inter-agency coordination, and stakeholder engagement, while also enhancing the visibility and outreach of DSDG’s efforts worldwide. The website is currently on Drupal 10 and is hosted on Microsoft Azure Cloud. Work Assignment 1. User Support and Specialized Advice • Provide technical guidance and specialized support to DSDG platforms and related websites including the 2026 UN Water Conference website and Global SDG Partnerships/Commitments Platforms, including related tools for the Water and Ocean Conferences and others. Analyze user requirements and translate them into system specifications, identifying integration and linkage challenges and proposing appropriate solutions. • Unify the SDGS Search engines - Address the platform Search functionality issue and unify the search engines utilized on the site. Also figure out ways to restore the main search functionality, which has been disabled due to the BOTs attack on the site in mid-2025. 2. Platform Integration and development • Develop the official website for the Sustainable Transport Decade (2026 – 2035), with the necessary settings to host a compendium of Sustainable Transport Action Commitments, aligned with UN guidelines and adjusted for easy expansions and adjustments. • Conduct a technical evaluation to determine the feasibility of migrating Conect2030 (https://tfm2030connect.un.org/) to the DSDG platform (https://sdgs.un.org/tfm/online-platform) or to a suitable, cost-effective hosting environment that ensures long-term stability and sustainability. 3. Maintenance and System Enhancement • Maintain and enhance existing Drupal-based information systems for DSDG. Troubleshoot and provide ongoing user support, including updating security patches and modules, resolving complex issues, advising on new techniques, and monitoring system performance to ensure continued effectiveness. 4. Drupal security patch and module updates for other DESA websites • Update Drupal patches and modules to the latest versions to conform to OICT’s cyber security requirements for 12 DESA websites* hosted with UNGSC. https://hlpf.un.org, https://ecosoc.un.org, https://publicadministration.desa.un.org, https://unpan.un.org, https://social.desa.un.org, https://unpfii.desa.un.org, https://financing.desa.un.org, https://policy.desa.un.org, https://capacity.desa.un.org, https://jpo.desa.un.org, https://da.desa.un.org, https://forests.desa.un.org • Fix urgent bugs for the 12 websites if needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, communications, design, digital media or related field, or equivalent professional experience; formal training in computer science is preferred. • At least 5 years of professional experience professional experience in the field of information technology or related area, in designing and developing web pages, SQL databases and application/database server maintenance is required. Extensive professional experience in developing websites specifically Drupal websites in Drupal 10/11, developing Drupal modules, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript skills are required. • Experience in Cloud, especially in Microsoft Azure Cloud, is required. • Experience working with an international organization is preferred, previous experience with the UN is preferred; and • Strong communication skills in English (verbal, written) are essential.
Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN Language is an advantage.
