Position description

East-West Management Institute, Inc. (EWMI) invites applications for Deputy Chief of Party for an upcoming USAID-funded governance program in the Pacific Islands. The new project will seek to strengthen democratic governance in the Pacific by supporting the sustainable practice of sound, just, and responsive governance, and in so doing, develop the capacity of governments, civil society, marginalized groups, the private sector, and citizens writ large to make informed decisions about their choice of approaches and partners. Twelve Pacific Island nations will be targeted by this project: Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Samoa, and Vanuatu. This is expected to be a five year project that will begin in early 2021.

Required qualifications

· At least a bachelor’s degree or higher in public administration, economics, business, law, social sciences, or a related field (post-graduate course certificates and/or master’s degree preferred);

· 10 years of progressively responsible professional development, public administration, financial management, governance reforms, or civic engagement experience and expertise;

· Substantial experience working with counterparts at various levels of government and the non-government sector in managing international development assistance projects;

· Strong expertise in the area of responsibility, good management skills, and extraordinary communication skills; and

· Strong English writing and speaking skills.
