Position description

The University of North Georgia (UNG) is currently accepting applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political Science & International Affairs (PSIA). The successful candidate may teach on multiple campuses with the focus being the Blue Ridge campus of UNG.



Responsibilities
 

  • Teaching 12 hours per semester (4/4; undergraduate; face to face with potential for some hybrid or fully online courses). 
  • The successful candidate for this position must have a strong teaching background and a willingness to engage with diverse students at the introductory/freshman level as well as possibly teaching an upper division course.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in political science, international relations or a related field.
must have a successful teaching and publication record. Applicants must have a focus in political science with an ability to teach POLS 2401 Global Issues, POLS 2301 Intro to Comparative Politics and POLS 1101 American Government as well as online courses in their area of specialization.

Preference will be given to those candidates who:
1) Have a strong background in teaching International Relations/Comparative Politics and be able to teach American government. 
2) Willingness to teach online to support Departmental needs
3) Support the development of students on the Blue Ridge campus through engagement
4) Committed to strongly supporting and growing the degree offerings of the department
5) Willing to engage in advising and service activities
