Salary Range: $85,000 to $100,000
SUMMARY:
Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis in its New York Office is looking for a Fellow on the Chinese Economy for a full-time position. The Fellow will report to and work closely with the CCA Co-Founder and Managing Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Management:
- Build, lead, and direct a team focused on tracking and analysing relevant economic trends, events, and policy development in China.
- Contribute to center-wide initiatives and thinking and engage in the design, goal-setting, and implementation of policy projects.
- Develop and implement strategies among local and global audience to ensure effective publicization and impact of the pillars’ work.
- Liaise and coordinate the work of other CCA senior fellows, fellows and affiliated researchers within the Chinese economy and technology pillar, as well as other fellows from ASPI and the Asia Society.
- Cultivate emerging generations of researchers on the Chinese economy.
- Product development:
- Write and produce analytical reports, articles, and innovative data-driven digital products, including monthly in-depth analysis reports on the Chinese economy.
- Initiate, develop, and produce other public-facing products covering the Chinese economy to meet the need of relevant constituencies including long-form analysis, commentary series, interactive websites, video series and newsletters.
- Initiate, develop, and execute seminars and panel discussion events on the Chinese economy and represent CCA in both public settings and private, high-level briefings.
- Undertake media interviews and publish op-eds in prominent national and international news publications.
- Fundraising:
- Work with fundraising team to cultivate new and existing donors, write concept notes for potential projects, explore new fundraising possibilities and secure new funding for the pillar’s products and projects.
- Leverage, expand and engage CCA’s expert networks both for fundraising purposes but also to promote the work of the pillar and CCA as a whole.
- Build and strengthen institutional networks and relationships with other stakeholders, individuals and organizations that work on China’s economy
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 7-9 years of progressively responsible experience, including at three years in directly managing and leading policy initiatives with a focus on China.
- Professional experience participating in multidisciplinary, collaborative research, analysis, and policy development projects in this field.
- Experience managing staff in a matrixed organization preferred, experience in non-profit management including strategy, fundraising, and administration a plus.
- PhD in economics, international relations/affairs, political science, public policy, or other related area required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Fluency in Chinese and English required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
- Motivated and responsible team player.
