Position description

The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Programme Coordinator, A2DSRH PMU.

Under the supervision of Director of Social Development - Human Capital and Institutional Development, Programme Coordinator, A2DSRH PMU will establish and implement the AUDA-NEPAD Africa Demographic Dividend and Sexual Reproductive Health Program (A2DSRH) which will support AU member states through policy reforms aimed at harnessing the demographic dividend, advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and Universal Primary Healthcare (UHC), in order to achieve their growth and development ambitions. The Program is essential to advancing the African Unions Agenda 2063 by contributing to the continent’s sustainable, equitable and accelerated healthcare objectives, and thus incumbent is pivotal to promoting cooperation between Member States, AU Institutions, Regional Economic Communities, and key Stakeholders to galvanise support for and promote the SRHR, UHC and the demographic dividend in Africa.

Required Skills and Competencies 

1. Experience in the public sector and proven track record of collaborating with public, private, and civil society organizations to deliver results.

3. Demonstrate proficiency in project management skills.
4. Excellent diplomacy skills and a proven ability to establish and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships with AUDA-NEPAD, Member States, RECs, and other stakeholders.

6. Demonstrated substantive leadership and ability to integrate knowledge with broader strategic, policy and operational objectives.
7. Demonstrate professional competence and mastery of issues relating to socio-economic development Programs. Conciseness and efficiency in meeting commitments, observing deadlines, and achieving results.

33. Proficiency in one of the AU official working languages (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic) and fluency in another AU language(s) is an added advantage.

Education and Experience:

A Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Health, Development Studies/Management, Development Economics, or a related field. Candidates must have at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in;

1. Experience coordinating and liaising with government agencies, regional economic communities, and development partners communities.
2. Partnership development, resource mobilisation, project management and strategic planning.
3. Proven experience in the successful development of partnerships, network building, and/or resource mobilization.
4. Extensive experience in clearly communicating results, evidence, and conducting strategic research and policy analysis.
5. Experience within public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
6. Candidates should exhibit proven experience of developing and implementing successful programs and initiatives related to social policy, or health, with experience in partnership and stakeholder management.

Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of development policies of the African Multilateral Organizations (such as the African Union) and Development Agencies.

Or

A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Health, Development Studies/Management, Development Economics, or a related field. Candidates must have at least twelve (12) years of progressive experience in;

1. Experience coordinating and liaising with government agencies, regional economic communities and development partners communities.
2. Partnership development, resource mobilisation, project management and strategic planning.
3. Proven experience in the successful development of partnerships, network building, and/or resource mobilization is required.
4. Extensive experience in clearly communicating results, evidence, and conducting strategic research and policy analysis.
5. Experience within public sector, multilateral institutions, and international non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
6. Candidates should exhibit proven experience of developing and implementing successful programs and initiatives related to social policy, or health, with experience in partnership and stakeholder management.

Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of development policies of the African Multilateral Organizations (such as the African Union) and Development Agencies.

Remuneration:

Indicative basic salary of US$57,356.60 per annum plus other entitlements e.g., Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($27,290.88 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary) in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
