The Department Chair is expected to provide administrative leadership to seven faculty members and staff; nurture relationships across campus and with stakeholders; and seek out and steward resources. The chair should model excellence in teaching; maintain an active program of scholarship; and engage in appropriate college-level service. We seek a department chair who is eager to energetically lead the department in the climate of challenges to higher education nationally and in the context of a brand new general education program (known as REAL) at our university.
This is a 9-month faculty position with administrative duties as chair which require work throughout the calendar year.

Applicants should possess (1) a Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field; (2) the rank of either Full or Associate Professor; (3) an established record of research and teaching excellence; and (4) previous administrative experience or university service that would demonstrate the applicant’s capacity to carry out the duties of department chair.
(1) Specialists in American Government, Public Administration, or Public Policy; and
(2) Ability to teach courses in American Institutions and Race and Ethnicity Politics.
Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field.
