Position description

The Minotaur Group is a leading geopolitical risk management consultancy that brings over 20 years of industry experience to every project we undertake. We provide information and advisory services to corporations, government agencies, international organizations, NGOs and individuals.

We are looking for a Libya specialist to be able to provide up-to-the-minute political analysis for the ever-evolving political situation in that country. This will be a contract, as needed position.

The Job: This person will be a part of a team that will help prepare and provide briefings on the ever-changing political, socio-economic, and conflict situation in Libya. The briefings will be delivered as needed and would need to not only provide a snapshot of the current political situation at that moment but also a predictive analysis.

Given that these briefings are expected to provide a regular analysis of trends and snapshots, the person will be expected to understand and keep updated about the various political, military, social, and economic developments in Libya.

The Person: You are an international affairs professional and a specialist on Libya. You have done research and/or have worked in the country and you understand all aspects of the polity, economy, civil society, and culture. You have been closely following the conflict there and have established relationships with national and sub-national institutions in the country. You have in-depth knowledge of the political, social, and economic landscape of Libya as well as the geopolitics that have influenced Libya’s political dynamic over the past 5 to 10 years.

Minimum Requirements (Need to have):

  • An undergraduate degree in a related discipline
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in research and analysis, particularly with Libya
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining high-level contacts with local decision and policy makers.
  • Familiarity with the development context of Libya – the roles and projects of international development organizations, civil society organizations, the UN, INTERPOL, etc.
  • Excellent analytical understanding of the Libyan conflict
  • Providing tailored analysis both in writing and through briefings

Desired Requirements (Nice to have):

  • A graduate degree in a related discipline
  • Established relationships with national and sub-national institutions and entities involved with and/or operating in Libya.

Languages:

  • English (required)
  • Arabic (desired)
