The New York Times is looking for a Senior Security Intelligence Analyst with a strong background in tactical and strategic-level intelligence analysis of cyber threats. In this position, you will report to the Security Intelligence Team within the broader New York Times Information Security Team.
Who are we?
The mission of the Information Security team is to protect staff, subscribers, sources, and intellectual property of The New York Times and our subsidiaries from unauthorized access, damage, and disclosure. To accomplish this, The Security Intelligence Team works to proactively monitor, hunt, and understand the threats affecting The New York Times company, the newsroom, and our data to improve our defensive capabilities, incident response, and education programs.
What you’ll do
Consume and analyze strategic & tactical threat intelligence from internal and external sources to track and report on the evolving threat landscape, adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and possible areas of concern/targeting that could potentially impact The New York Times
Support the build out of a formal intelligence dissemination program to distribute custom intelligence to relevant stakeholders and internal teams
Anticipate and identify areas for ad-hoc threat research and analysis, and respond to requests for reporting from internal teams and stakeholders as needed
Produce detailed strategic and tactical intelligence reports on cyberthreats and convey potential impact and recommendations
Provide intelligence expertise for the various unique work done in the newsroom and across the company
Provide curated cyber intel to support intel operations work, threat hunting, and the development of use cases mapped to common frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK) for detecting new/evolving threats
5+ years of relevant security experience
Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision making skills
Experience designing and producing strategic and tactical intelligence products
Strong knowledge of different types of threat actors, attack vectors, tools, and tactics, and an ability to map that knowledge to priority intelligence requirements
Experience consuming intelligence from different types sources and cross-referencing data to build a complete picture
Knowledge of Information Security products and systems
Experience analyzing intelligence and translating that analysis into products for different types of audiences
Experience working in fast-paced environments that demands timely analysis and intelligence production
Experience developing and delivering written and verbal communications to different levels of staff
