ABOUT GGGI
Launched since November 2015, the GGGI program in Morocco aims to support the process of implementing the National Sustainable Development Strategy (NSSD), the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the promotion and support of the implementation of a green, inclusive and sustainable development model at national and territorial level, aligned with the advanced regionalization process adopted by the Kingdom of Morocco. Its technical assistance focuses on policy and incentive formulation, identifying and designing bankable projects, and securing funds for their implementation.
The GGGI Morocco program focuses on four key themes:
- Climate Finance: To improve access to climate finance in Morocco’s regions.
- Circular Economy and Waste Management: To support national mitigation actions in the waste sector and develop a biodigestate standard in Morocco through the implementation of the “Organic Waste to Energy” program.
- Carbon Pricing and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement: To design policy approaches for Morocco under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement through the “DAPA program” and to assist in setting up the Article 6 framework in Morocco through capacity building and legal support.
- Energy Transition and Investment Mobilization: To support Morocco’s energy transition by developing large-scale investment projects in renewable energies, such as Green Hydrogen, floating photovoltaic solar, offshore wind, and organic waste-to-energy solutions.
ABOUT THE GGGI INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called “Grow Green” Program) provides unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular, nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply.
CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
GGGI Morocco is seeking a motivated local intern, of Moroccan nationality, to support its Communications and International Relations activities. The intern will work with a dynamic local team focused on advancing the Green Growth agenda in Morocco and will receive support and guidance from the Project Manager and the Communications focal point. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic communication, project outreach, desk research, policy analysis, public relations, stakeholder engagement, and the review of legal and regulatory frameworks within the context of global green growth. The assignment will include the following but not limited to:
1) Communication and outreach support
- Manage GGGI Morocco’s LinkedIn page and create content for visibility and outreach
- Design a social media communication plan ahead of GGGI Morocco’s planned events
- Conduct desk research and collect data from project reports to support project development and outreach on social media
- Participate in monthly meetings with the communications team in HQ, present GGGI Morocco’s key achievements and mitigation measures and report back to the Project Manager and the local team on key highlights and potential deadlines
2) Event coordination support
- Assist in the organization of conferences, meetings, seminars and workshop events, mobilize participants, speakers, experts and guests and conduct satisfaction surveys
- Coordinate logistical aspects of GGGI Morocco’s events, including preparing event invitations, managing attendance, preparing visa and expense claims on behalf of participants, liaising with different hotel conference venues to obtain the best quotation, documenting the event, and preparing event write-ups
- Coordinate with the GGGI Communication team in HQ in promoting GGGI’s achievements across GGGI Morocco’s LinkedIn page
3) International relations support
- Assist in developing and maintaining communication with key stakeholders, including government officials consultants, private parties, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals
- Support project steering/monitoring committee meetings engaging all the stakeholders concerned
- Help prepare communication materials tailored for stakeholders, such as project briefing notes, policy briefs, and reports where needed
- Support the drafting and editing of key messages to be delivered during stakeholder meetings, presentations, and consultations
4) International Law and Policy Analysis Support
- Help in analyzing national policies and legislation in Morocco to identify gaps or opportunities for alignment with international environmental agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement, SDGs….).
- Assist in drafting recommendations for GGGI country team and for policymakers based on findings from legal and policy reviews.
- Support the preparation of legal briefs or summaries on emerging international law issues relevant to GGGI’s work in Morocco.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
1) Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 12 months) from a relevant degree program (e.g., Political Science, International law, International Relations, Communications or related fields).
- Strong interest in sustainable development and Green growth.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and French (knowledge of Arabic is an advantage).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in a relevant field is a plus.
- Experience in providing communications and research support with strong analytical skills is highly desired.
2) Functional
- Demonstrates some understanding of Morocco’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), , Renewable Energy landscape in Morocco, Circular Economy and Waste Management concepts, and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
- Flexibility, responsiveness, and ability to manage multiple activities to tight deadlines.
- Great writing skills to produce reports and communication materials in coordination with the communication and policy intern.
- Be able to lead where needed and support the Project Manager and the local team.
3) Corporate
- Understands and actively supports GGGI’s mission, vision and values.
- Ready to anticipate and provide necessary support to the Project Manager and those who need support
- Able to handle complex multi-stakeholder relationships and particularly governmental officials
- Keen on maintaining a high degree of professional integrity
- Able to work effectively with other teams/departments of a high degree of cultural/professional diversity

SELECTION PROCESS

- GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work/internship experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.

- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview, which may be conducted in person or online. Only successful candidates will be notified.
- The selected intern will undergo an onboarding process during the initial week, upon accepting the internship offer, to familiarize themselves with GGGI’s mission, values, and ongoing projects.
