Position description

The Program Officer will be joining the Global Advocacy Team at a critical time as we work to reduce gender discrimination and ensure that food systems deliver healthy and safe diets for all through sustainable means.

The position will primarily support our nutrition and food systems-related advocacy globally, while contributing to other related advocacy initiatives, team-related grant and project management; monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL); and external engagement needs.

Drawing from CARE’s 75 years of experience, we recognize the centrality of transparency and accountability. In addition to CARE’s involvement in holding governments to account on their commitment made, internal accountability will include capturing information about CARE’s advocacy accomplishments, monitoring our work and presenting this information in a way to inform learnings to advance our strategy and approach. The Project Officer will pull from various resources and working across teams and stakeholders to align donor interest, grant objectives, advocacy objectives and workstreams, to help move major initiatives forward and track their impact. This includes working closely with the Senior Advisor for Food Systems, the Global Advocacy Team Lead, CARE’s financial team and other budget holders in the department to ensure good stewardship of our grants as well as to build our pipeline and pursue additional funding opportunities.

The Program Officer would thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the skill set to transfer learnings and data to various audiences with proven written/verbal communication skills. Must be interested in working in a matrixed and geographically dispersed organization, with the ability to self-start and carry projects forward with input from multiple teams.
