Position description

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of External Economic Relations Division, ASEAN Economic Community Department of the ASEAN Secretariat, the Project Officer will provide the following support for economic cooperation between ASEAN and Korea provided under the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Area (AKFTA):

  • Programme and project coordination:
    • Coordinate the development and implementation of economic cooperation projects/capacity building activities provided by Korea to ASEAN that are supported by the ASEAN-Korea Economic Cooperation Fund, as well as other relevant funds;
    • Keep track of projects and draft relevant monitoring reports.
  • Negotiation and meeting support:
    • Provide administrative and technical support to meetings of the ASEAN-Korea FTA Implementing Committee and its relevant subsidiary bodies.
  • Public communications:
    • Respond to enquiries from researchers/private sectors/public sectors;
    • Prepare the communication material documents including press release, joint media statements, public report, as necessary.
  • Undertake other ASEAN Secretariat tasks as required:
    • Prepare the necessary documents for other meetings as required;
    • Provide other support to the ASEAN Secretariat, as required and if available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the area of international economics, international trade, or international trade and investment law, with not less than three (3) years progressive experience in a relevant area;
  • Experience in policy research, advocacy and project management;
  • Strong administrative capabilities;
  • Understanding of, and keen interest in international and regional issues, and knowledge of and commitment to ASEAN ideals;
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain working relationships with government representatives, public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders;
  • Meticulous and proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines;
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaborative work practices;
  • Good command of English, written and spoken;
  • Competency in computer skills including with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
