The group is comprised of the Government and Humanitarian verticals who set the global strategy; the Solution Engineering team that implements new solutions; and the in-market Sales team who drive customer sales through local resources.

The SVP, Government Vertical, is responsible for design and execution of our global government strategy. This position reports directly to the EVP, Government & Development. It is based in New York or London.

Role
• Owns the design and execution of our global government strategy
o Develops the strategic roadmap to serve governments in pre-commercial and mature markets
o Leverages deep understanding of government and their needs to design differentiated suite of solutions that enhance government efficiency, transparency and effectiveness
o Acts as a strategic business partner to key geographic and functional business unit heads to execute the go-to-market strategy
o Provides thought leadership in government services and financial inclusion ecosystem design (customer forums, conferences, internal events)
• Responsible for Innovation and Standardization of government solutions
o Prioritizes strategy roadmap for both pre-commercial and mature markets
o Collaborates closely with Solution Engineering and Sales teams to craft business requirements for new solutions
o Responsible for commercialization of new solutions (empower sales with strong go to market; support pilot launch, drive standardization for scale), in partnership with Solution Engineering, Product Marketing and in-market Sales teams
o Supports in-market Sales teams to deliver against financial targets, and provides thought leadership support to win strategic RFPs
o Facilitates cross-market success transfers and knowledge sharing
• Creates valuable, sustainable partnerships
o Creates partnerships with the public and private sector as required to deliver commercially viable solutions
o Build relationships, in partnership with key internal stakeholders, with key government entities
o Ensures consistent global messaging across markets and channels to ‘speak with one voice’
• Manages a team of professionals who execute the strategy in conjunction with teams across MasterCard


All About You
o Consultative solution development focused, with product development and management experience, ideally in a consulting payments environment or within B2B business model
o Experience in strategy development and implementation
o Experience working for or in government agencies, managing process improvement and transformative change initiatives to improve citizen welfare and government effectiveness
o Experience in payments and data networks, preferably in the product or innovation area
o A proven and accomplished leader with experience attracting, building, coaching and developing a high-performing, cohesive team
o Adept at managing internal stakeholders in terms of engagement, communication and transparency of purpose. Can skillfully lead complex initiatives that require collaboration across functional, geographical and cultural lines
o Demonstrated ability to work within and across geographic boundaries within a matrix environment. Preferably has worked in and led organizations in multiple markets
o Self-motivated, thrives in a fast paced environment; readiness to take-on stretch goals
o Exceptional relationship management, influencing and communication skills
o Undergraduate degree required. MBA or graduate degree preferred
o English fluency is required. At least one other European language a strong plus
