Burson-Marsteller is an award-winning public affairs consultancy seeking a Senior Manager/Director in Brussels to expand our energy practice. Our office specializes in supporting companies and organizations in influencing the development and implementation of EU public policy, and leading media and communications campaigns throughout Europe.

Do you have a passion for EU energy and climate issues and preferably a proven track record in public affairs? Do you enjoy discussing the intricacies of the EU’s Energy Union? Are you able to identify how the renewable energy, energy efficiency, electricity and gas directives impact the energy market? Key responsibilities

In this role you will lead client relationships and programs. Your responsibilities would include providing strategic advice, supporting and directing client advocacy, managing financial aspects, as well as developing and implementing strategic communications campaigns on energy issues in Brussels, across EU member states and beyond. You would also play a central role in developing our team of consultants and further growing our client portfolio primarily on energy and climate but also across our environment practice.


  • Thorough understanding of EU and global energy and climate policy;
  • A strong network of contacts in the EU and in the international energy policy and business community;
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in EU public affairs in consultancy, industry and/or in one of the EU institutions;
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience with the EU policy and decision-making processes;
  • Experience in people, client and budget management;
  • Raises the visibility and enhances the reputation of the firm externally through activities such as published articles or guest speaking engagements;
  • Develops and pitches new business opportunities;
  • Proficient user of English; other European languages are an important asset;
  • Strong communication skills and political insight;
  • Experience with digital communications;
  • Flexibility and dynamism, ability to work in a multicultural team.
