Position description

The Charity & Security Network (C&SN) seeks a Director for its growing network of civil society actors dedicated to protecting programs that promote peace and human rights, aid civilians in areas of disaster and armed conflict and build democratic governance.  Launched in 2009, C&SN addresses issues that arise from the intersection of national security and nonprofit rights. It serves as a resource center for more than 500 members working domestically and globally.

The Director, along with a small staff, engages in advocacy on the issues, maintains relationships with key stakeholders and works to educate decisionmakers and the public.  The Director is liaison to C&SN’s fiscal sponsor, NEO Philanthropy, which handles financial and regulatory compliance matters. C&SN is responsible for raising funds for its own budget.

The Director’s areas of focus are:

  • Policy advocacy and strategy.
  • Program management.
  • Member and stakeholder relations.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the U.S. national security and/or human rights legal andregulatory framework.

  • Proven written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience leading and managing coalitions.
