Job Summary:


The Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) Strategy & Development team is seeking a Strategy Analyst empowered to provide influential thought leadership and insight that will shape the overall strategic direction of the RMD business. The successful candidate will drive primary and secondary research, insight development, messaging, and recommendations for the most critical strategic issues facing RMD. Example projects may include market segment prioritization/positioning, growth strategy development, portfolio analysis, financial modeling, long-range strategic planning, and/or enabling technology strategy development that informs organic/inorganic investment.

The Strategy Analyst will partner with RMD Strategy Executives and actively interface with RTX Corporate Strategy & Development Leadership, RMD Senior LT, and RMD Functional LT to position RMD as a leading global defense prime. The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical skills, the ability to bridge disparate data/views into a cohesive and comprehensive story, and define tangible, actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:


  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the global defense landscape, including competitors, customers, and suppliers; stay abreast of geopolitical, threat, and technology trends
  • Proactively identify and lead analysis of critical issues facing RMD, providing thought leadership and analytical, data-driven insights that shape actionable recommendations
  • Partner with RMD Strategy executives to drive comprehensive strategy development, KPI performance measurement/attribution, and accountability across RMD
  • Develop dynamic scenario models that enable decision making through quantitative analysis
  • Assess current and future business models to make optimization recommendations
  • Support the RMD Portfolio Assessment, in cooperation with RTX Corporate Strategy and RMD LT, executing and continuously improving the assessment methodology and framework
  • Support the Long-Range Planning exercise across RMD, providing detailed analysis of the current defense environment and assessment of the future defense landscape
  • Support the RMD Corporate Development team on the identification, assessment, analysis, and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestiture, and minority-equity investment (corporate venture capital) opportunities for RMD
  • Develop, maintain, and leverage data on defense spending, customer purchasing trends, technology investment, competitor performance, etc. to support strategy development initiatives
  • Develop and maintain project plans for ad-hoc and recurring strategy initiatives to drive clear and consistent communication up, down, and across the organization


Qualifications You Must Have:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, International Relations, or a related subject and 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience is required
  • Experience with primary and secondary research methodologies
  • Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Data visualization and/or storytelling skills to communicate complex topics
  • Experience using market/economic/other data to make data-driven recommendations
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:


  • MBA with a concentration in strategy and/or finance
  • Program Management Experience and/or PMP Certification
  • Mastery of strategy frameworks, methodologies, and approaches
  • Ability to apply mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive approaches to complex problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Defense or Aerospace experience
  • Strategy consulting experience from a top-tier management consulting firm
  • Thorough understanding of the defense industry, including the acquisition, regulation, and threat environment

  • Experience working new business captures
  • Excellent executive-level communication skills
