The US End FGM/C Network (“The Network”) is the leading voice in the U.S. for the elimination of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C); it connects, supports, elevates and advocates with its members and diverse U.S. stakeholders engaged in FGM/C prevention, education, care and advocacy. The Network is a vibrant and collaborative group of over 200 survivors, civil society organizations, foundations, activists, policymakers, researchers, healthcare providers, and others committed to promoting the abandonment of FGM/C. The Network serves as the main source for information and the lead advocacy voice in the United States on ending this harmful practice in the US. and around the world. 

The mission of the U.S. End FGM/C Network is to eliminate female genital mutilation and cutting (FGM/C) by connecting, supporting, elevating, and advocating with diverse US stakeholders engaged in prevention, education and care.

Position Description

The U.S. End FGM/C Network is seeking a dedicated and skilled Policy and Advocacy Coordinator to join our team and expand our policy and advocacy efforts related to ending FGM/C. The Policy and Advocacy Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all policy advocacy activities for the organization, working to advance the network's goals of ending FGM/C in the United States and globally.

This is a part-time (50% FTE), non-exempt position with an annual salary of $31,200. This position will report directly to Caitlin LeMay, the Director of The U.S. End FGM/C Network. This is a fully remote position based in the United States with occasional travel required. 



  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies in partnership with local groups, organizations, and activists to advance the Network's policy priorities at all levels (international, federal, state, and municipal)
  • Monitor and analyze legislative developments related to FGM/C, and keep key stakeholders informed
  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, lawmakers, government officials, and advocacy organizations to advance the network's policy goals
  • Partner with other Network  staff and consultants on any advocacy campaigns for the Network regarding pressing and urgent policy and advocacy issues
  • Represent the network in policy discussions and coalitions, and serve as a spokesperson on policy issues related to FGM/C
  • Provide policy analysis and recommendations to inform the Network's strategic planning and decision-making
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure alignment between policy, advocacy, communications, and programmatic efforts
  • Collect and analyze data to inform program improvements.




  • Experience in policy analysis, advocacy, government or international relations, or related fields
  • Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders, work collaboratively with partners, and drive collective action on policy goals
  • Strong understanding of the issues surrounding FGM/C, including other forms of gender-based violence, and a commitment to ending the practice.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel, as needed.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and/or lived experience of FGM/C and other forms of gender-based violence preferred
  • Must be based in and have work authorization the United States


  • Annual salary of $31,200
