Hivos Civil Company in Beirut seeks qualified candidates for the position of project manager of Syrian Women’s Participation in Peace and Security: The Way Forward project.
The extension of funding for one more year of the current project enables Hivos to again seek a project manager, who is based in Beirut. The project manager will lead the implementation of the project called Syrian Women’s Participation in Peace and Security: The Way Forward 2017-2020. The project is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under its National Action Plan 1325. Management of the Hivos MENA Programme is in transition from being implemented in The Hague to the new location in Beirut. Therefore the position of project manager is moved to duty station Beirut.
About the project
The project was co-designed by Hivos and three Syrian organisations, who have an office in neighbouring countries but operate both inside and outside of the country. Implementation is also the co-responsibility of Hivos and its three partners. The project aims at creating a peaceful solution to the current conflict through active involvement of women of all sectors, geographical zones and political affiliations. In particular, this project aims to bridge the gap between the UN brokered Peace Negotiations in Geneva with its Women’s Advisory Board and peace initiatives at the community level inside the country. The project promotes upward participation and downward accountability. To achieve this overall goal many activities are organised at community level, governorate and national level and connected to the international level of the Women’s Advisory Board. This implies, dialogue sessions, conferences, workshops, advocacy, training sessions and gender awareness raising activities.
You are answerable to the Director MENA at Hivos.
You have a university degree in relevant disciplines and with a thorough understanding of women’s rights and gender issues. You have at least three years of experience in working with civil society activists from the Middle East, preferably from Syria. You subscribe to the humanistic identity, approach and strategic choices of Hivos and are able to represent this to the outside world. You are entrepreneurial and result oriented, well organized, responsible, independent, decisive and energetic with excellent communication and social interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and writing skills in English and Arabic.
What we offer
Employment will be for one year starting on January 1st 2020. Depending on your experience and skills your salary will be in accordance with salary scale 11 of the Hivos Civil Company. Travel costs are compensated in accordance with internal regulations and legal requirements. You will be subscribed to NSSF and a health insurance package is offered.
